01The short version

The AUSA site doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies, so you won’t see a cookie banner. We use a small amount of storage on your device to make features work, and nothing else.

02What cookies are

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. “Local storage” is a similar feature that keeps small bits of information on your device. Both can be used to remember your choices, and some websites also use them to track you. We don’t.

03What we use

NameTypeWhat it’s forHow long
ausa_vidCookie, local storage and IndexedDBA random id for your device, used only for event polls, so each device gets one vote. It’s kept in three places so clearing one doesn’t reset it. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy on our server.2 years, or until you clear your browser data
ausa-device-idLocal storageA random id sent with ticket orders to stop one device from holding too many unpaid orders.Until you clear your browser data
Page analyticsNo cookieCounts page visits anonymously and in aggregate. Doesn’t identify you or follow you to other sites. Not stored on your device

04Other services

When you pay for a ticket or transport, you’ll be taken to our payment provider’s secure page. That page may set its own cookies to process your payment safely and prevent fraud; those are covered by the provider’s own cookie policy. Photos on the site may load from image-hosting services, which receive standard technical information (like your IP address) needed to deliver the image.

05Controlling storage

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time from your browser’s settings. The site will still work. Clearing it may make your phone look new to our polls. So when you vote, we also record a fingerprint of your browser (details such as its screen size, time zone and how it draws text) and your network, and AUSA can remove votes that look like one browser voting again and again. We store only scrambled (hashed) copies of these, never the details themselves. For how we handle personal information more broadly, see our Privacy Policy.
